2020-2021 Excellent "Overseas Communications Officers" Announced

On the afternoon of November 18, the Hainan Daily Press Group and Hainan Broadcasting Station (Group) co-sponsored an event in Haikou on the topic of integrating media resources.

About 400 people attended the "2022 Hainan Press Group and Broadcasting Station with all-Media Integration and Shared Resources" conference including the representatives of various provincial departments and bureaus, officials from the island's cities and counties, and managers from key enterprises across Hainan.

Content at the meeting included announcing the names of the ten individuals recognized as 2020-2021 Excellent "Overseas Communication Officers". They included Dr. Peter BOOTSMA from the Netherlands, the Russians Olga SAPUNOVA and Dr. Polina SILICHEVA, the Americans Timothy STEPHENS, Tommy COLEMAN, and Dennis NIKOLAEV, Frenchman Godfrey ZWYGART, Malaysian Dr. Ronald PUA, Israeli Dan BEN-CANAAN, and Kazakhstani, Ruslan TULENOV.

At the event, GUO Zhimin (the president of Hainan Daily Press Group, Hainan Broadcasting Station, and Hainan Media Group) and WU Zeming (Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of CPC Hainan Provincial Committee ) jointly unveiled a plaque for the Hainan International Media Center "The Home of Overseas Communication Officers".

HAN Chaoguang (party committee member and Deputy Chief Editor of Hainan Daily Press Group, and Director of the Hainan Integrated Media Center Management Committee) and LI Jie (Hainan Broadcasting Station Deputy Chief Editor) were on hand to present certificates to the excellent "Overseas Communications Officers" and the newly recognized "Overseas Communications Officers" for 2020-2021.

A total of nine from diverse backgrounds including the Russian Inira BAIBURINA, Pole Klaudia Anna MISZTAL, Belgian Charlotte MAGNETTE, Canadian Jennifer KREISZ, Frenchman Louis JAMES, American Vanessa JENCKS, Englishman David JANKE, German Dr. Yana WENGEL, and Phillipina Vida GABE received their recognition as newly appointed "Overseas Communications Officers".

WANG Ling (deputy chief editor of the Hainan Broadcasting Station) introduced the Hainan International Media Center to the guests and expressed her hope that HIMC will continue to play an active role in telling the story of the Hainan Free Trade Port and spreading the voice of the Hainan Free Trade Port to the world.

Established on November 6, 2019, HIMC is a key platform in the Hainan Free Trade Port's overall work of foreign exchange and communication. It is also the main body working to build Hainan's "333" international communication system.

It has established good cooperations with China's central media such as the People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, China Daily, and many mainstream international news agencies such as Russia's TASS. Its overseas social media account matrix (including facebook, twitter, youtube, Instagram, VK, and Tiktok) has a total fan base of more than 1.3 million; and, it is the first overseas media account matrix in Hainan to achieve more than one million followers.

As the multilingual portal of the Hainan Free Trade Port's international communications, HIMC's website( www.hicn.cn) is an important window for the world to know the culture, tourism, economy and trade situations, current affairs information and news of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

At present, the Hainan International Media Center has recognized more than 80 Overseas Communication Officers from more than 30 countries around the world who have set up a bridge and link for exchanges between Hainan and the world, and who play an active role in telling Hainan's story to the world.
